HVOF Spraying of NiCr-CrC and NiCr Alloy Coatings

This clip shows our SX-5000 supersonic flame spraying (HVOF) system running nickel-chromium-chromium-carbide (NiCr-CrC) and NiCr alloy powders. HVOF accelerates the powder to supersonic speed, so the particles arrive at the substrate almost fully molten and the resulting layer is very dense, with low porosity and high bond strength.

NiCr-CrC is a workhorse coating for parts that must resist wear and oxidation at the same time - up to roughly 800 °C. Typical parts include hydraulic rods, rolls, valve components and pump shafts. The NiCr underlayer is often used as a bond coat under ceramic top coats.

Send us your part drawing, base material and working temperature and we will recommend a coating and thickness.
