Plasma Spraying Wear-Resistant Coating on Shaft Sleeves

Shaft sleeves, pump shafts and bearing journals are the parts that wear out first in slurry and abrasive service. Instead of replacing them, plasma spraying a hard ceramic or carbide layer on the sealing surface restores the part to a better-than-new condition and costs a fraction of a replacement.

The sleeve is degreased, grit blasted, sprayed and then ground to the final tolerance. Because the plasma flame reaches over 10,000 °C, materials such as alumina, chromium oxide and tungsten carbide can be deposited without changing the properties of the steel below.

We coat single parts and production batches - send the drawing with tolerance and we will quote.
