Guangzhou Sanxin Company's SX-80 plasma equipment and SX-1000 supersonic arc equipment were all installed and debugged at Malaysian FEX Pump Company, and the customer's acceptance was qualified. In the production of water pump valves, it is usually necessary to increase the local or total surface hardness of the material to meet the design requirements for the service life and performance of the pump valve. Plasma spraying is a common surface hardening treatment method for materials.
What was installed
The scope covered the SX-80 power supply, SG-100 plasma gun, powder feeder, closed-loop cooling and the spray booth extraction package. Installation was followed by commissioning at full load and a five-day operator training programme covering parameter setting, gun maintenance and coating inspection.
Why plasma for pump components
Pump shafts, sleeves and seal areas in abrasive or corrosive service are commonly protected with a plasma sprayed ceramic or carbide-ceramic layer, ground back to tolerance. The coating restores a worn surface and extends the interval between overhauls.
